Emmaline Caverly and Violet Qiu (pronounced Choo) from my novel, "The Moon in the Door"
Emmy's the quirky, aloof, rather vague girl about town who everyone knows, but no-one really knows. She attempted suicide during her freshman year of high school, and was pulled out of high school by her overbearing parents. She is obsessed with taking polaroid photos, collecting old junk from antique stores and wandering the wilder corners of Blue Peninsula, Massachusetts.
Violet is the outspoken, vigorous girl who lives catty-corner to Shiloh with her traditionalist Chinese parents and twin brother, Rory. Very blunt and honest in her affections, she soon becomes Shiloh's best friend and unofficial event coordinator.
