"It's about time, isn't it?" His voice rouses her in the small hours of the morning. Her eyes are heavy and drowsy, her body still tingling, and she peers over at him, turning her head slightly to dislodge the curtain of yellow hair from her face. "Hm?" "Never mind." His hand is resting lightly on her hip, though above the covers, and she smiles. His dorm room smells of parchment and old books- the very essence of English academia, and though last night's rush had faded, she still feels almost frivolous. Her hair is still drying from the rain storm, though it'swarmed by his body, and she finally turns all the way so she's facing him. "Daniel?" "What is it?" "Were you serious? When you asked me to stay here in London?" His brown eyes glint in the early morning light that filters in through the small window. Most of their usual sternness is absent, replaced by contentment and quiet curiosity. "Only if you'd like to. I want you to be near me, Lara." She laughs, more at herself than he. "Do you know how long I've waited for you to say that, Danny?" He flushes a bit. "Really?" "Yes. Ever since we were children. For nine years." "I think I loved you, too." He pulls her in tight and her heart leaps to her teeth. Their fight last night is forgotten, and she is so happy that he came for her- kept her from getting on that ferry to Germany. She doesn't know what's in store for her in the following weeks, months, or years, but she has a feeling that they will be wonderful.
